East Islip Woman Arrested for Vandalizing Jesus Statue at St. Mary's Church

A woman from East Islip was taken into custody for vandalizing a Jesus statue at St. Mary's Church. The incident took place late at night on Friday at the Roman Catholic Church on East Main Street. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Deyonna Subert, was arrested by detectives from the Hate Crimes Unit outside a location in Bay Shore. Subert, who is homeless, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and is set to appear in court on Thursday. Further information about the incident has not been disclosed by the police.
