Meet Hayes Hurd: The 6-Year-Old Backstreet Boys Superfan

Maren Morris shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that her 6-year-old son, Hayes Hurd, is a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys. She mentioned that Hayes is obsessed with the boy band and thinks they are brand new, even though they have been around since she was his age. Morris revealed this at the 2026 Music Will Benefit in New York City on May 7. Hayes' love for the Backstreet Boys was seconded by Morris' best friend, Karina Argow, who mentioned that Hayes is starting to learn about the boy band and even some of their dances.

The Backstreet Boys rose to fame with their self-titled debut album in 1996, which featured hit songs like "Quit Playing Games (with My Heart)." Some of their other popular hits include "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)," "As Long as You Love Me," and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely." At the Music Will event, where Morris received the Creative Dreamers Award, she expressed her excitement about teaching her son about the hard work and fun involved in making music, despite the egos that come with it. Hayes, who turned 6 in March, enjoys being on the road with his mother and has a sweet demeanor.

To celebrate Hayes' 6th birthday, Morris shared a photo on Instagram with his face hidden by a white heart emoji. In the caption, she referenced Harry Potter, revealing that Hayes was sorted into Ravenclaw because he wanted people to trust him. Hayes' love for the Backstreet Boys and his growing interest in music are evident, making him a young fan with a bright future ahead.
