Star-Studded Lineup: Madonna, Shakira, and BTS to Perform at 2026 World Cup Final Halftime Show

Global Citizen has announced that Madonna, Shakira, and BTS will be performing during the halftime show of the World Cup final game on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This will be the first time the FIFA World Cup final will feature a halftime show, with the performance expected to last 11 minutes. The announcement was made in a social video featuring Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Sesame Street characters, and The Muppets, including a FaceTime call with BTS.
Shakira, who is set to release the official 2026 World Cup song "Dai Dai" with Burna Boy, will also be performing at the World Cup final. This will be her second official FIFA World Cup song, following "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" for the 2010 World Cup. Madonna, on the other hand, will be releasing her Confessions II album on July 3, with singles like "Bring Your Love" and "I Feel So Free" already out.
BTS, the South Korean group, made a successful return to music with their album ARIRANG earlier this year, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. They are currently on their ARIRANG WORLD TOUR, with international dates scheduled through next March. The halftime show is being curated by Global Citizen and Coldplay’s Chris Martin to raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, aiming to expand access to education and football for children worldwide.
In addition to the halftime show performers, FIFA has announced that Katy Perry, Future, Tyla, LISA, and Anitta will be performing at the 2026 World Cup opening ceremonies in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Katy Perry will headline the opening ceremony in Los Angeles, while Future will also take the stage at SoFi Stadium. This will be the first time the World Cup final will have a halftime show, with Madonna and Shakira having previously headlined the Super Bowl halftime show.
