Remembering Judith Adele Jones: A Life of Compassion and Community Dedication

Judith Adele Jones, a dedicated nurse and community member, passed away at the age of 88. Born in Oneida, New York, she discovered her passion for serving others at a young age and pursued a career in nursing. Throughout her life, Judy worked in various nursing roles, including public health and OB/GYN nursing. She also volunteered at Mid-Maine Medical Center, staying connected to her profession.
In addition to her nursing career, Judy was actively involved in her community. She dedicated over six decades to Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, led the youth group, and contributed to various church activities. She also volunteered with organizations such as the Mid-Maine Medical Center Auxiliary Board and the Sunset Boarding Home Board, building lasting friendships and connections.
Judy had a deep appreciation for Native American art and the Southwest, which stemmed from her time living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She raised four children as a single mother before marrying Dr. Paul A. Jones in 1984. Together, they enjoyed traveling across the United States in their RV, visiting National Parks and spending time with family and friends.
An avid crafter, Judy enjoyed tole art, painting, sewing, knitting, and rug hooking. She kept busy with various projects and activities, including tending to her flower garden and caring for her animals. Family was at the center of Judy's life, and she took great pride in her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband, Paul A. Jones, her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church in Waterville on August 1. Judy's legacy of compassion, dedication, and love for her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her.
