Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Rep. Ilhan Omar with Apple Cider Vinegar: Case Update

A man who attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar during a town hall meeting earlier this year has pleaded guilty to assaulting and interfering with a U.S. officer. Anthony Kazmierczak was charged after spraying the Minnesota congressional representative with apple cider vinegar in January. Hennepin County prosecutors also charged him with felony terroristic threats and fifth-degree assault. Kazmierczak charged at Omar and squirted a brownish-orange liquid at her with a syringe, later identified as apple cider vinegar and water by a hazmat team. Despite the incident, Omar reassured her constituents that she was unharmed and determined to continue her work. Once the federal case concludes, Hennepin County prosecutors will pursue the state case against Kazmierczak. A sentencing date for the federal case is pending.
