Britney Spears Charged with DUI by Ventura County DA: Arraignment Set for May 4

Britney Spears has been charged with driving under the influence by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. The charge includes driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and she is scheduled for arraignment on May 4. The DA’s office mentioned that a typical resolution for such cases involves a plea to reckless driving with alcohol and/or drugs, probation, DUI classes, and fines. This offer is likely to be extended to Spears.
The incident occurred in the Moorpark area when Spears was arrested by Ventura County CHP officers for suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs. She was driving a black BMW erratically on the US-101 highway. After showing signs of impairment and undergoing field sobriety tests, she was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail. Spears was released a few hours later.
Spears’ team acknowledged the incident as inexcusable and stated that she would comply with the law and seek help and support during this difficult time. This is Spears’ first DUI charge, although she had previously faced legal issues related to hit-and-run and driving without a license in 2007, which were later dropped. She was under a conservatorship for 13 years until her release in 2021.
