Republican U.S. Senate Nomination Race Heats Up: Latest Poll Results and Candidate Analysis

In the latest poll conducted by Emerson College and KLFY, John Fleming is leading the race for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate with 28% of the vote, closely followed by Julia Letlow at 27%, Bill Cassidy at 21%, and Mark Spencer at 2%. The poll suggests that the race may go to a June primary runoff as no candidate is currently meeting the 50% threshold. Male voters are more inclined towards Fleming, while female voters are split between Letlow and Cassidy.
The poll, conducted among likely Republican primary voters from April 24-26, has a margin of error of 4.3%. Fleming is viewed favorably by 42% of those polled, with Letlow at 40% and Cassidy at 30%. Letlow is perceived as the candidate most supportive of the Trump administration's agenda by 41% of respondents, followed by Fleming at 26% and Cassidy at 21%.
Among the top issues for Republican primary voters are the economy (43%), crime (16%), education (10%), healthcare (9%), immigration (8%), and threats to democracy (5%). When asked about their views on carbon capture in Louisiana, 17% considered it good, 34% bad, and 49% were unsure. Men and women had differing opinions on the matter, with a majority of women being unsure.
