David Huff Pleads Guilty to Murdering Son and Girlfriend Under Influence of Drugs

A man named David Huff appeared in court and admitted to murdering his son and girlfriend while under the influence of illegal drugs. He pleaded guilty to two counts of murder for shooting his 11-year-old son and 32-year-old girlfriend at his stepfather's house in Syracuse. During the court proceedings, Huff displayed a lack of remorse and even laughed at times, appearing disinterested in the seriousness of the situation. Despite his initial denial of shooting his son in the head, he eventually admitted to being guilty of the crimes.

The judge questioned Huff about the details of the murders, including shooting his son multiple times, but Huff initially hesitated to confirm the specifics. However, he eventually acknowledged his guilt, although he did not provide a full account of what transpired. The prosecutor later clarified that Jeremiah, the son, was indeed shot in the head, despite Huff's initial denial.

Huff's defense team had considered a mental health-related defense, but their experts determined that he was competent to stand trial. It was suggested that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the murders. As part of his plea agreement, Huff agreed to a minimum of 40 years in prison, with at least 20 years for each count of murder.

The incident involved Huff shooting his girlfriend and son multiple times, with the boy's mother calling 911 after hearing from her dying son. Huff did not admit to shooting at his stepfather, who was also a victim of the shooting. State troopers found Huff the following morning in the Town of Onondaga. Huff is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
