College Dropout Faces Murder Charges in Deaths of USF Students: Latest Updates on Hisham Abugharbieh Case

A 26-year-old college dropout is facing murder charges in the deaths of two University of South Florida students. Hisham Abugharbieh is accused of two counts of first-degree premeditated murder with a weapon. Abugharbieh could potentially face the death penalty if convicted. A status conference is scheduled for Tuesday morning, but it is unclear if he will be present.

The victims, Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy, both 27-year-old doctoral students from Bangladesh, were reported missing on April 16. Limon's body was found with multiple stab wounds, and Bristy is still missing. Detectives used cellphone data to track Abugharbieh's car and Limon's phone to the location where Limon's body was discovered.

During the investigation, detectives found incriminating evidence in Abugharbieh's apartment, including blood residue and personal belongings of the victims. Abugharbieh had also asked an AI program about disposing of a human body days before the victims went missing.

The case is still ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
