BTS World Tour 'Arirang' Takes North America by Storm: A Recap of the Tampa Kickoff and Beyond

BTS has started their North American tour at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, launching the BTS World Tour “Arirang” in North America with a series of shows. The group is set to perform in 12 cities, including stops in Mexico City and New York, with a total of 31 shows scheduled. This tour marks BTS's return to the US stage since their "Permission to Dance" on Stage concert in Las Vegas in April 2022. The demand for tickets was high, leading to sold-out shows and the addition of extra dates in Tampa, Stanford, California, and Las Vegas.

Tampa welcomed BTS with open arms, celebrating the group's first visit as a complete unit with various citywide festivities. Mayor Jane Castor showed support by lighting up the old city hall in purple and illuminating downtown bridges in the same color from Saturday to Wednesday. The city also prepared large merchandise booths, announced road closures near the concert venue, and displayed welcome messages at Tampa International Airport. Local broadcaster Fox 13 Tampa Bay aired a special program called “K-Pop: The Seoul Reach” over the weekend, exploring K-pop's global impact and the influence of Korean culture in Florida. Additionally, 10 Tampa Bay News projected that the tour would bring significant economic benefits, estimating an impact of $800 million to $900 million for the Tampa area.

The North American tour will continue at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, on May 2 and 3, where BTS will make history as the first Korean act to headline a solo concert at the venue. Fans across the country are eagerly anticipating the group's performances as they bring their electrifying energy and captivating music to audiences in various cities. With their immense popularity and dedicated fan base, BTS's North American tour is expected to be a resounding success, showcasing the group's global influence and musical prowess.
