Nathan Chasing Horse Sentencing Postponed: Convicted Sexual Predator Faces Delay in Las Vegas Trial

Nathan Chasing Horse, a convicted sexual predator, is set to be sentenced by a Las Vegas judge for multiple counts of sexual assault on a minor. Following a week-long trial, Chasing Horse was found guilty of 13 out of 21 counts, including 10 counts of sexual assault with a minor. The sentencing, initially scheduled for March 10, was postponed to March 18 at the request of Chasing Horse's attorney, who cited the need for additional documentation to prepare for the sentencing, as some counts carry life sentences.
The delay in sentencing was granted by the judge, pushing the new sentencing date to Monday, April 27. The case in Las Vegas involved three victims, with Chasing Horse, 49, being accused of sexually abusing two of them when they were children. Prosecutors presented a disturbing video during the trial, showing Chasing Horse recording himself while sexually abusing one of the child victims. Chasing Horse has been in custody since his arrest in January 2023, and his followers were known as 'The Circle.'
Chasing Horse, known for his role in the 1990 movie "Dances with Wolves" as Smiles a Lot, also faces warrants in Montana and Canada, with cases being reopened following the international attention garnered by the Las Vegas trial. Chief Deputy District Attorney William Rowles highlighted during closing statements that the North Las Vegas police department initially failed Chasing Horse's second alleged victim when she first attempted to report the sexual assault in 2014.
