South Korean Authorities Seek Detention Warrant for HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk Over Alleged IPO Misconduct
South Korean authorities are pursuing a detention warrant for Bang Si-hyuk, the founder and chairman of the entertainment company HYBE, which is known for managing the popular K-pop group BTS. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has made this request in connection with suspicions of illegal trading related to HYBE's initial public offering. Allegations suggest that Bang misled early investors before the IPO and directed them to sell shares to a private equity fund associated with his acquaintances. It is claimed that after HYBE went public, the fund sold its shares, and Bang received a significant portion of the profits as per a previous shareholder agreement, amounting to around $129.1 million.
