High Court Decision on Amy Winehouse Auction Case Expected Today

A UK High Court judge is set to make a decision on Monday regarding a case involving Amy Winehouse's father and the auction of items associated with the late singer. Mitch Winehouse, representing his daughter's estate, has filed a lawsuit against Amy's stylist Naomi Parry and friend Catriona Gourlay, alleging that items belonging to Amy were sold at auctions in the US without his consent. The defendants argue that the items were either gifts from Amy or already in their possession.

Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011 at the age of 27. During a trial in December, Mr. Winehouse's lawyers claimed that the two women did not inform him about the auctions and that this legal action was his only way to seek answers. The barrister for Mr. Winehouse suggested that the women intentionally hid the sales from him. However, Ms. Parry stated in written evidence that she believed the Winehouse family was aware of the auctions and that Mr. Winehouse was informed about them in a meeting in 2018. She also expressed her belief that Amy would have wanted them to be financially secure and criticized the amount being demanded as excessive.

The case is being heard by Sarah Clarke KC, who is acting as a deputy High Court judge. The judgment is expected to be delivered today.
