On April 12, 2026, Robert "Rob" Michael DePiore, aged 63, passed away peacefully. Born on July 6, 1962, in Youngstown, Rob grew up in North Jackson and attended local schools. He had a strong work ethic and was dedicated to his job at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for 36 years, where he took care of the grounds and the rectory. Rob was known for his kind and genuine personality, making many friends through church events and sports activities.

Rob had a passion for sports, especially baseball, and was actively involved in the Mill Creek Junior Baseball League as a player and later as a coach. He organized "Club Ball" games on his family's farm, bringing together over 200 family members and friends for friendly competition. Rob's competitive spirit and love for the game were evident in his dedication to creating a fun and entertaining environment for all participants.

Family was a central part of Rob's life, and he enjoyed spending time with his large family, organizing various activities and games to bring everyone together. He had a special talent for remembering details about family members' sporting events and statistics, showcasing his deep love and support for his loved ones. Rob's thoughtful gestures, such as sending cards and gifts, demonstrated his caring nature and the importance he placed on his relationships with family and friends.

Despite facing challenges with mental illness for 45 years, Rob remained resilient and found solace in his faith. He attended daily Mass with his mother and actively participated in church activities, reflecting his strong spiritual beliefs. Rob's courage in sharing his struggles with mental illness and his ability to bring people together through his storytelling and humor will be cherished by all who knew him.

Rob is survived by his mother, siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, who will always remember him for his kindness, perseverance, and ability to create lasting memories. The family expresses gratitude to the healthcare professionals who supported Rob during his illness and invites friends and family to attend the funeral service to honor his life and legacy.

In memory of Rob, donations can be made to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Youngstown, or the NEOMED Foundation to support individuals living with schizophrenia.
