The Tragic Case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez: The Connection to D4vd and the Unresolved Mystery

D4vd, a singer-songwriter and TikTok star, was arrested in connection with the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old girl whose decomposed remains were found in the trunk of his abandoned Tesla. The investigation revealed that Celeste's death likely occurred in the spring of the previous year. She was last seen in April 2024 in Lake Elsinore, California. Family members confirmed that Celeste knew D4vd, and her body was discovered in September 2025 after workers reported a strong odor coming from the Tesla.
The Tesla, registered to D4vd, was impounded in Hollywood Hills after being parked for an extended period. Celeste's remains were found in two cadaver bags inside the front trunk of the vehicle. The discovery was made a day after what would have been Celeste's 15th birthday. Despite being on a world tour at the time, D4vd was said to be cooperating with authorities in the investigation. However, sources later revealed that he was not fully cooperative.
In February, Burke's family members from Texas were asked to testify before a grand jury in Los Angeles, but details of their involvement were not disclosed due to the secrecy of grand jury proceedings. The investigation suggested that more than one person may have been involved in Celeste's death and the disposal of her body. The cause of Celeste's death was still undetermined as of last November, according to the LA County Department of Medical Examiner.
D4vd, known for his viral hits on TikTok and his debut album "Withered," had not been publicly identified as a suspect in Celeste's death until later in the investigation. He rose to fame on social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok before signing with Darkroom and Interscope Records. In an interview, D4vd explained that the unique spelling of his name was for search-engine optimization and represented four cinematic universes he was creating.
