Newport Beach Car Rental Company Faces Scam at Coachella: Owner Out of Hundreds of Thousands
A Newport Beach car rental company offers Moke electric vehicles that are popular for outdoor events like the Coachella Festival. The owner, Chad Marta, recently fell victim to a scam involving a rental request for four cars to transport a headline artist at Coachella. Despite delivering the cars to an address in Palm Desert, the vehicles were later tracked to Tijuana, and the customer disappeared, leaving Marta out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident. It's a setback for the rental company, but they are working to recover and continue operating.
