Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Inductees and Ceremony Details

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its latest inductees, including Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Queen Latifah, Oasis, Sade, Joy Division/New Order, Wu-Tang Clan, and Luther Vandross. These artists were selected by a panel of over 1,200 industry professionals and musicians. Phil Collins, known for hits like "In the Air Tonight," is being honored for his solo work, while Sade is recognized for her soul-jazz hits. Wu-Tang Clan, Iron Maiden, and Luther Vandross are also among the inductees this year.

The induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a televised presentation scheduled for December on ABC and Disney+. The following year, the ceremony will return to Cleveland, the hall's home. Notable artists who were nominated but did not make the cut this year include Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, and Shakira.

In addition to the performer category, the hall also recognizes inductees in three special committee categories: early influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award. This year, Queen Latifah, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, MC Lyte, Gram Parsons, Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, Rick Rubin, and Ed Sullivan will be honored in these categories. Ed Sullivan, known for his iconic TV show that featured numerous musical icons, will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award for his contributions to breaking racial barriers in American entertainment.

Last year's inductees included Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes, Carol Kaye, Nicky Hopkins, Lenny Waronker, Thom Bell, and Warren Zevon.
