Rock + Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Inductees: Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, and More!

The Rock + Roll Hall of Fame has announced its latest inductees, including Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Queen Latifah, Oasis, Sade, Joy Division/New Order, Wu-Tang Clan, and Luther Vandross. These artists were selected by a panel of over 1,200 industry professionals and musicians. Phil Collins, known for hits like "In the Air Tonight," is already a Hall of Famer as a member of Genesis. Sade, Wu-Tang Clan, Iron Maiden, and Luther Vandross have all made significant contributions to their respective genres.

The induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock theater in Los Angeles. This year's inductees also include post-punk pioneers Joy Division and New Order, as well as Britpop icons Oasis. Billy Idol, with his punky pop hits like "White Wedding," will also be honored. Notable artists who were not selected this year include Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, and INXS.

In addition to the performer category, the Hall of Fame recognizes inductees in special categories like early influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun non-performer award. This year, Queen Latifah, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, MC Lyte, and Gram Parsons will be honored in the early influence category. The musical excellence category will recognize Linda Creed and producers Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, and Rick Rubin. The Ahmet Ertegun non-performer award will be given to Ed Sullivan, the iconic host of the Ed Sullivan Show, for his role in shaping American entertainment and breaking down racial barriers.
