Rep. Eric Swalwell Faces Calls for Resignation Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Rep. Jared Huffman, a Democrat from California, has called for Rep. Eric Swalwell to resign following allegations of sexual misconduct. Swalwell, who is running for California governor, was accused by a former staffer of sexual assault. Additional reports from CNN included allegations from three other women of sexual misconduct by Swalwell. Despite denying the allegations, Swalwell apologized to his wife and stated that the accusations were false. House Democratic leadership has called for an investigation into the incidents and for Swalwell to end his campaign for governor. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida, has announced plans to file a motion to expel Swalwell from Congress.
