Tragic Tourist Coach Accident in the Canary Islands: One Fatality and Multiple Injuries Reported

A tragic tourist coach accident in the Canary Islands has resulted in one fatality and injuries to at least 14 individuals. The coach veered off the road on the island of La Gomera, landing on its side near a tunnel. The passengers, all foreign nationals, were reportedly British tourists. Emergency services confirmed one death, three serious injuries, and 11 moderate injuries. Medical teams, including a helicopter and ambulances, responded to the scene.
The passengers on board the coach included 24 adults, three children, and the driver, all of whom were holidaymakers. Fortunately, the children are not believed to be seriously injured. The coach was en route from a hotel in Playa de Santiago to a port in the capital to catch a ferry to Tenerife. Civil Guard officers are investigating the cause of the accident, interviewing witnesses and examining road markings for clues. Injured individuals have been taken to La Gomera General Hospital, with plans to transfer the most critically injured to medical facilities in Tenerife.
