2022 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Inductees: A Celebration of Basketball Excellence

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will be welcoming a new class of inductees this year, including former WNBA stars Elena Delle Donne, Chamique Holdsclaw, and Candace Parker, as well as the 1996 U.S. Olympic women's basketball team. Former NBA standout Amar'e Stoudemire, coaches Mike D'Antoni, Mark Few, and Doc Rivers, and longtime official Joey Crawford will also be enshrined.

The announcement of the next class of inductees was made during the NCAA women's Final Four, with several of the inductees present at the event. Holdsclaw and Parker, who both played for Tennessee coach Pat Summit's Lady Volunteers in college, have had successful careers in both college and professional basketball.

Parker, a three-time WNBA champion, is the only player in league history to win both the MVP and rookie of the year in the same season. Holdsclaw, on the other hand, won three consecutive titles at Tennessee and had an 11-year WNBA career with multiple All-Star Game selections.

Delle Donne, a two-time league MVP, led the Washington Mystics to their only WNBA championship in 2019. The 1996 U.S. Olympic women's basketball team, which included players like Venus Lacy, also secured a gold medal.

Stoudemire, the only NBA player in this year's class, was a six-time All-Star and the league's rookie of the year in 2003. Coaches D'Antoni, Rivers, and Few have all had successful coaching careers, with Rivers winning an NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008.

Crawford, a longtime NBA official, officiated over 2,500 regular-season games and 50 NBA Finals games during his 39-year career. His retirement in 2016 marked the end of an illustrious officiating career.

In conclusion, the upcoming class of inductees into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame represents a diverse group of individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of basketball at various levels. Their achievements and impact on the game will be celebrated and honored as they are enshrined in the Hall of Fame later this year.
