Empowering Single Moms: Louisa County High School Students Repair Cars for a Cause
A Virginia auto shop is making a positive impact by involving high school students in repairing used cars to donate to single moms in need. Louisa County High School students are part of a special trade program in partnership with the local non-profit organization, "Giving Words," which aims to provide transportation assistance to single mothers. The charity, founded by Eddie and Ginny Brown in 2018, recognized the crucial role of transportation in accessing job opportunities, education, and medical services.
The initiative has grown significantly, with over 60 donated cars received so far, thanks to partnerships with local dealership Carter Myers Automotive. Students like Owen Yarrington and Stephen Smith are actively involved in repairing these donated vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operational for the recipients.
