Suffolk County police responded to two overdoses in East Patchogue on Feb. 17, leading them to Gonzalez, who was traced through a phone number found on one of the victims. An undercover detective made a purchase of powder cocaine from Gonzalez, leading to further transactions and eventually a search warrant executed at Gonzalez's rental home in Selden on Feb. 26. The search uncovered a significant amount of fentanyl, Xylazine, crystal meth, Tusi, ketamine, and cocaine, with a total street value exceeding $360,000.
The cache of drugs seized from Gonzalez's residence included 4.5 kilograms of fentanyl, which authorities warned was enough to potentially harm millions of people. Additionally, 2.5 kilograms of Xylazine, known as "Tranq," were confiscated, along with other illicit substances like crystal meth, Tusi, ketamine, and cocaine. The recovered drugs matched those found at the scene of the initial overdoses in East Patchogue, indicating Gonzalez's alleged involvement in the distribution of these substances. The total value of the seized drugs was estimated to be over $360,000, highlighting the scale of the operation Gonzalez was allegedly running.
Phillip Gonzalez faces a multitude of drug-related charges that could result in a lengthy prison sentence, ranging from 15 years to life.
