Adapting Adele Parks: Bestselling Author's Novels Set to Hit the Small Screen with Strong Film & Television
Adele Parks, a bestselling British author, has signed a deal with Strong Film & Television to adapt her novels into a TV series for the first time. The series will be based on the interconnected characters from her books Our Beautiful Mess, Playing Away, Lies Lies Lies, and Young Wives’ Tales. Our Beautiful Mess, released last year, will be at the center of the adaptation, focusing on a mother who discovers her child is pregnant with a troubling boyfriend, leading to a chain of secrets and threats. The series is yet to be attached to a network and will be directed by James Strong, with Loretta Preece as the Bafta-winning executive producer.
Adele Parks is a prolific author in the UK, having written 25 novels over the past 25 years. Her previous works have been adapted into movies such as The Image of You in 2024 and The Stranger in My Home in 2021. The deal for the TV series was facilitated by producer Jim Parks, known for his work on The Image of You and The Christophers. James Strong praised Parks' novels as "blistering page-turners that beg to be brought to the screen," while Parks expressed her excitement about working with Strong Film & Television, confident that they will deliver compelling and engaging TV for her fans.
Strong Film & Television, established in 2023, is currently working on an ITV drama series about a young Elizabeth I and has acquired the rights to adapt Robin Stevens' Murder Most Unladylike. The production company, led by James Strong, is known for its creative energy and dynamism, qualities that Parks believes will bring her stories to life on screen. With a screenwriter and cast yet to be announced, the upcoming TV series based on Adele Parks' novels is highly anticipated by fans and viewers alike.
