V's Journey: From Childhood Memories to Global Stardom
BTS member V recently made an appearance on Jung Jae Hyung's YouTube channel, 'Fairy Jae Hyung'. During the video released on March 29, V shared candid stories about his family, his amusing audition experiences, and his journey as a global star.
Growing up in Geochang with his grandparents while his parents resided in Geoje, V recalled fond memories of his grandmother pointing out a street banner featuring actor Kang Dong Won, telling him that a real star looks like that. He reminisced about his love for music and how people would reward him with money for dancing as a child, making him happy.
V revealed that his father also aspired to be an entertainer and actor, working at Daegu MBC TV station to get closer to the broadcasting world. Despite his father not achieving his dream, V pursued his own dreams with his father's support, opting for an arts high school and learning to play the saxophone.
After attending a dance academy in Daegu, V attended a private audition for Big Hit Entertainment, initially just as an observer. However, he ended up auditioning with a funny comedy dance, old trot songs, rapping, beatboxing, and playing the saxophone, which he believes intrigued the judges and helped him pass.
V shared a heartwarming moment when his parents drove a long way from Geoje to Seoul just to see him briefly, leading to an emotional phone call with his dad. Reflecting on BTS's humble beginnings and their gradual rise to fame with songs like "Fire," V credited their dedicated fan base, ARMY, for their success.
Discussing BTS's performances at international award shows, V mentioned practicing alongside global artists they admire and how they strive to have fun on stage while working hard in rehearsals. He humorously admitted to peeking at J-Hope if he makes a mistake on stage, calling him the strict teacher of performances.
