Rihanna's Mansion Shooting: Florida Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder Charges

A woman from Florida, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges after allegedly shooting at the Los Angeles mansion of pop star Rihanna. Ortiz, who had no prior criminal record, was arrested on March 8 and told detectives she wasn't attempting murder. She fired at least 20 bullets from a white Tesla towards Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's home, where their children and staff were present. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Rihanna and Rocky were inside the house when they heard loud sounds like banging on metal. They discovered bullet holes in the Airstream trailer parked in the driveway. The couple took cover and checked on the children, Rihanna's mother, and staff members. The police report revealed bullet holes in the trailer's window and side, as well as near the nursery where the children were with their nanny. The property's gates and walls were also hit by bullets, along with a neighboring home.
Ortiz faces multiple charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and shooting at an occupied vehicle or dwelling. If convicted on all counts, she could receive a life sentence. During a court appearance, Ortiz agreed to waive her right to a speedy preliminary hearing. Her lawyer requested a bail reduction, but the judge denied it, citing her potential risk to the community and flight risk if released on bail. The motive behind the shooting and any connection between Ortiz and Rihanna are still under investigation.
Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner, is known for hits like "We Found Love" and "Umbrella." She founded Fenty Beauty in 2017. The case involving Ortiz's alleged shooting at her mansion continues to unfold, with the legal proceedings ongoing.
