Netflix's Growth Strategy: Investing in Content, Live Experiences, and Internal Restructuring

Netflix is expanding its growth strategy by investing in content, live experiences, and internal restructuring to enhance its long-term positioning. The company is venturing into live programming with a BTS comeback concert that will be livestreamed to 190 countries, marking its first global music concert broadcast. This move signifies a shift towards using large-scale events to drive engagement and monetization.

In addition to live events, Netflix is increasing its investment in South Korea to support more live events and leverage the global popularity of Korean entertainment. The company is focusing on original storytelling over sequels and remakes, with about half of its recent content slate centered on new ideas. This strategy helps Netflix differentiate itself in a market saturated with franchises while meeting viewer demand.

Netflix is also targeting underserved genres like comedies and young adult films and plans to release a limited number of large “event films” each year to create significant moments on its platform. The company recently reorganized its global product team, streamlining operations by cutting several dozen roles and reshaping internal structures. The leadership changes include expanding Elizabeth Stone’s role to chief product and technology officer, overseeing product, engineering, and data teams under a more unified structure.

Despite these changes, Netflix's stock performance remains mixed, trading below its 20-day and 100-day simple moving averages. The stock is down 3.52% over the past 12 months and is closer to its 52-week low than its high. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 51.42, indicating neutral momentum, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) shows a bearish configuration, suggesting fading upside momentum. Overall, the stock's performance is in a "prove it" mode, with momentum leaning slightly bearish.
