Massive Animal Rescue Operation in Lake Hughes, California: Hundreds of Dogs and Cats in Need of Assistance

A large-scale rescue operation is currently underway in Lake Hughes, California, where hundreds of dogs and cats are in need of assistance. The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) served a search warrant for animal welfare violations at a property on 266th Street West early in the morning. Approximately 700 dogs and cats are on the premises, under the care of Christine De Anda from Rock N Paws Animal Rescue. The animals are being assessed by veterinary and medical staff on-site, with those needing urgent medical attention being transported to veterinary hospitals, while the rest will be taken to DACC animal care centers for further evaluation and treatment.

Over 70 animal care and control personnel are involved in the rescue operation, making it the largest seizure of dogs and cats by the DACC to date. This incident may also be one of the largest cases of its kind in the country. The priority is to ensure the well-being of the animals and provide them with the necessary medical care and attention they require. The DACC is working diligently to address this challenging situation and ensure the safety and welfare of all the animals involved.
