Emergency Shelter Opened at Waialua High and Intermediate School in Response to North Shore Flooding

An emergency shelter has been opened by the City and County of Honolulu at Waialua High and Intermediate School in response to flash flooding on Oahu's North Shore. The shelter, located at 67-160 Farrington Highway, is available to residents affected by the flooding, and pets are allowed if they are in a carrier or on a leash. Residents in the area are advised to evacuate to higher ground if it is safe to do so and to move to an upper floor if experiencing rising water in their homes. Those trapped by floodwaters should seek the highest level and avoid attics without roof access. Emergency services should only be contacted for life-threatening situations. If heading to the shelter, bring a Go Bag with essential supplies, medications, and pet care items if needed.
