Terror Suspect Tackled by Law Enforcement After Throwing Homemade Bomb in NYC Protest

A recent video captures the moment when one of the suspects involved in a terror incident was tackled by law enforcement after allegedly throwing a homemade bomb during a protest in New York City. Ibrahim Kayumi and Emir Balat are accused of throwing live explosive devices into a protest outside Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Gracie Mansion residence on March 7. Balat was tackled by an NYPD officer while Chief Aaron Edwards yelled for assistance, and the incident is being investigated as an act of ISIS-inspired terrorism.

The new video footage shows Balat being apprehended by law enforcement after allegedly throwing the bomb, with individuals shouting "bomb" as he was tackled to the ground. Prosecutors stated that the men handled an alleged bomb containing TATP, nuts, and bolts attached with duct tape. Balat reportedly expressed his desire for the attack to be more significant than the Boston Marathon bombing.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that the homemade bombs were real and capable of causing serious harm or death. Balat, who signed a pledge of allegiance to the Islamic State, was taken into custody after the incident. A search of a self-storage unit in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, connected to the investigation revealed explosive residue, leading to a controlled detonation for safety.

Surveillance footage shows Balat purchasing fireworks fuse in Pennsylvania days before the incident. The FBI conducted the controlled detonation in cooperation with local agencies to ensure safety. The investigation continues into the incident outside Gracie Mansion, where two men threw homemade explosive devices during a protest against the alleged "Islamification of New York."
