Amazon Launches One-Hour and Three-Hour Delivery Services Across the U.S.

Amazon is rolling out one-hour and three-hour delivery services in various U.S. cities to compete with instant delivery companies like Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. Over 90,000 items will be available for quick delivery, with labels indicating the delivery time on the Amazon app. Amazon Prime members will pay $9.99 for one-hour delivery and $4.99 for three-hour delivery, while non-Prime members will pay $19.99 and $14.99, respectively.
The one-hour delivery option will be offered in hundreds of U.S. cities, including major metropolitan areas like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., as well as smaller cities like Des Moines, Boise, and American Fork. The three-hour delivery option will be available in over 2,000 cities and towns across the country. Amazon is creating a dedicated storefront for items eligible for these quick delivery options.
Amazon's senior vice president of Worldwide Operations, Udit Madan, stated that the new delivery options aim to help customers save time and make their lives easier. The company is leveraging its existing same-day fulfillment sites to support the quick delivery services. While Amazon has previously experimented with instant deliveries, such as the "Prime Now" service launched in 2014 and a 30-minute delivery pilot in 2025, this new initiative expands its quick commerce offerings.
In addition to the U.S., Amazon has introduced quick delivery services in other countries like India and the United Arab Emirates. In India, Amazon Now offers a 10-minute delivery service for groceries and other items, while in the UAE, the company promises deliveries within 15 minutes. Amazon's latest move to enhance its delivery options reflects its commitment to meeting the evolving needs of customers and providing convenient and efficient services.
