The Voice Season 29: Battle Rounds Begin with Emotional Performances and Surprising Twists

The Voice enters the Battle Rounds phase after completing three episodes of Blind Auditions. Coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend have finalized their teams of 10 and are now pairing up their artists for duet performances in the upcoming competition. Clarkson, who had to miss rehearsals due to personal reasons, was supported by her Battle Round mentor, Jennifer Hudson, a former coach on The Voice.
Despite missing rehearsals following the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, Clarkson returned to her coaching duties for the Battle Round performances. The singer shared two children with Blackstock, who succumbed to melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in August 2025. Clarkson expressed her excitement to witness her team members take the stage and appreciated the guidance provided by Hudson during her absence.
In the Battle Rounds, each coach possesses a Steal and a Save, with Clarkson also having a Super Steal from winning the Triple Turn competition in the Blind Auditions. This unique Steal allows her to automatically add an artist to her team, surpassing any other Steal or Save. Following the Battles, the Knockout Rounds will introduce an in-season All-Star Competition for the first time, where coaches will bring back two artists from previous seasons to compete in sing-offs.
Don't miss The Voice, Season 29, airing on Mondays at 9/8c on NBC. Join the coaches as they navigate the Battle Rounds, Knockout Rounds, and the exciting All-Star Competition to secure the best talent for their teams and ultimately crown the Season 29 champion.
