An SUV crashed into a house in Central Islip early Sunday morning after an intoxicated driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver, Estefany DeJesus, 30, was driving a 2022 BMW SUV south on Birchgrove Drive when she lost control near the intersection of Birchgrove Drive and Nostrand Avenue around 2:10 a.m., according to Suffolk Police. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into the front of a residence at 528 Nostrand Ave.

Police officers from the Third Precinct arrived at the scene and determined that DeJesus was driving under the influence. She was arrested and charged with DWI. DeJesus was then taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for evaluation. Fortunately, no residents inside the home were injured during the crash.

Following the incident, the Suffolk County Fire Marshal and a Town of Islip building inspector were called to assess the structural damage caused by the crash. DeJesus is set to be arraigned on the DWI charge at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
