Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Campaign Spending on Makeup and Hair Services Sparks Controversy

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known for her far-left views, spent over $2,000 on makeup services from a celebrity makeup artist last fall. The makeup artist, whose clients include Bad Bunny and Bella Hadid, charged $600 for hair and $600 for makeup. Ocasio-Cortez got dolled up for various events, including a get out the vote rally for Mayor Mamdani in Queens and the Eugene Debs award banquet for Sen. Bernie Sanders. Her campaign spending on makeup and hair services has drawn criticism, as most candidates typically spend much less on such services.
This is not the first time Ocasio-Cortez's makeup expenses have made headlines. She previously faced scrutiny for accepting pricey hair and makeup services during her attendance at the Met Gala in 2021. The House Ethics Committee found that she violated gift rules by accepting these services, which were initially billed to Conde Nast. Ocasio-Cortez has also shared makeup tips with her followers on Instagram and filmed a makeup tutorial for Vogue, highlighting the challenges women face in being taken seriously in politics.
Despite the criticism, Ocasio-Cortez's campaign spending on makeup and hair services continues to raise eyebrows. The Only Agency, the makeup artist's company, and Ocasio-Cortez's campaign have not commented on the latest expenses.
