From Layoffs to Support: The Inspiring Story of WellFed, a Lifeline for Fired Federal Workers
Rebecca Ferguson-Ondrey and Drew Ruby-Howe were let go from their positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of the government's downsizing efforts. This event led them to create WellFed, a support group for fired federal workers. The group has grown to nearly 5,000 members nationwide and offers workshops to help individuals with job searches, financial planning, and mental health support. About 25% of their members have successfully found new employment, and the founders are committed to providing ongoing support to those in need.
