The singer won the competition in 2002 and was told she would get the million-dollar prize and a new car. However, she revealed that instead of the money, the producers gave her "a $1 million worth of investment in you." Clarkson mentioned that the winner of "American Idol" season 2, Clay Aiken, received a car for himself and one for his mother.

During a conversation with her guest Rob Rausch, who claimed he didn't receive his prize from winning the reality show "The Traitors," Clarkson expressed her frustration at not getting the promised prize. She emphasized that the show had misled her about the prize money.
