Swedish Court Dismisses Lawsuit Against Avicii's Estate: A Legal Battle Comes to an End

The District Court in Sweden recently made a decision to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Avicii's former manager, Arash Pournouri, against the late DJ's estate and family members. Pournouri claimed that a Netflix documentary and two posthumously released books defamed him, violating a previous agreement with Avicii. The court ruled that Pournouri's lawsuit did not meet the necessary requirements for legal action.

Thomas Olsson, the attorney representing Avicii's estate and family, expressed that the dismissal of the case was not unexpected. He stated that the lawsuit was unfounded and criticized Pournouri for seeking attention through the legal action. The court's decision sends a clear message for Pournouri to move on from the matter.

Pournouri's lawsuit objected to the way he was portrayed in the documentary and books, alleging that it inaccurately depicted him as responsible for Avicii's mental health struggles and eventual suicide. Despite the dismissal of the case, representatives for Pournouri did not provide immediate comment on the ruling.

Klas Bergling, Avicii's father, expressed sadness at seeing his son's name used in this context and appreciated the judge's decision to end the legal dispute. He emphasized that neither he nor Avicii's mother had ever blamed Pournouri for Avicii's death. Klas declined further comments on the matter.

Arash Pournouri, who recently left the judges' panel of Idol, runs Unltd, a brand-building company that highlights his association with Avicii on its website. The legal battle between Pournouri and Avicii's estate and family has come to a close with the court's dismissal of the lawsuit.
