Kansas City Super Bowl Rally Shooting: Dominic M. Miller's Plea Hearing Details

A plea hearing for Dominic M. Miller, a 20-year-old man from Kansas City accused of firing the fatal shot during the 2024 Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally mass shooting, is set to take place on Monday morning at Jackson County Circuit Court in downtown Kansas City. Miller, who is one of three men facing murder charges in the shooting that resulted in the death of 43-year-old Lisa Lopez-Galvan of Shawnee, is scheduled to appear before Judge Kevin D. Harrell at 10:30 a.m.
The tragic incident occurred during the Chiefs Super Bowl celebration outside Union Station on Feb. 14, 2024, where a mass shooting unfolded, leaving Lopez-Galvan dead and injuring about two dozen others, including children under 16 years old. Additionally, approximately 60 individuals were injured in the ensuing chaos and stampede that ensued after the gunfire.
Miller is facing charges of second-degree felony murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the shooting. The two other men involved in the incident, 25-year-old Lyndell Mays of Raytown and 22-year-old Terry Young of Kansas City, are also facing identical charges of second-degree felony murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. Mays is additionally charged with causing a catastrophe.
According to prosecutors, the violence erupted following an argument between two groups, with Miller and Mays on opposing sides. Both men sustained gunshot wounds during the altercation. Prosecutors allege that Mays fired the first shot from his handgun, but it was a bullet from Miller’s firearm that ultimately led to the death of Lopez-Galvan.
In Missouri, individuals can be charged with murder even if they did not physically pull the trigger if a death occurs during the commission of a dangerous felony. The upcoming plea hearing will shed more light on Miller's involvement in the tragic event and the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
