Bryan Betancur Faces Legal Troubles in Metro Assault Cases: Arrested Again After Arlington Hearing

Bryan Betancur, 28, faced legal troubles as he left the Arlington County Courthouse after an initial hearing regarding alleged assaults on the Metro. However, he was swiftly re-arrested by Metro Transit Police officers for a simple assault charge in DC Superior Court. This charge was connected to an incident on a Red Line train at the NoMa-Galludet U station on February 28. Betancur was booked on a fugitive from justice charge by the Metro Transit Police, and his hearing in the Arlington General District Court was postponed. He posted bail and is set to appear in court again on April 20. Betancur, a Silver Spring, Maryland, resident, was initially arrested on March 2 following investigations into assaults reportedly involving him, some of which were shared on social media. He was first brought before a judge in Montgomery County, Maryland, before being extradited to Arlington, Virginia, to face an assault and battery charge related to a March 1 incident on a Silver Line train near Clarendon Metro Station.
