Seoul Metropolitan Government Cracks Down on Violations in Lodging Facilities Ahead of BTS Concert

The Seoul Metropolitan Government recently conducted inspections of lodging facilities in preparation for BTS’s upcoming concert at Gwanghwamun Square. During the inspections, 18 establishments were found to be in violation of the Public Health Management Act for not displaying necessary documents and information. The government, along with local authorities, inspected a total of 83 lodging facilities, taking action against those found to be non-compliant.

The inspections were carried out following a previous monitoring effort that identified numerous establishments failing to display their rates. The violations included not displaying business registration certificates or lodging rate lists. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced that it will be pursuing investigations and taking legal action against the violators. Additionally, administrative measures will be requested from the relevant districts.

To further crack down on illegal lodging operations, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is encouraging citizens to report any violations through its official website and the “Seoul Smart Complaint Reporting” app. Reports can be submitted until the day of the concert, and individuals providing critical evidence may be eligible for a reward of up to 200 million Korean won upon review. The government is committed to ensuring the safety and compliance of lodging facilities leading up to the event.

Byeon Gyeong-ok, Commissioner of Civil and Criminal Police Affairs for the Seoul Metropolitan Government, emphasized the importance of rigorous inspections to protect tourists visiting Seoul for the concert. The government is dedicated to preventing any harm to visitors and maintaining the integrity of lodging operations in the city.
