Severe Storms and Tornadoes Strike Three Rivers, Michigan: Eyewitness Video and Damage Reports

Severe storms hit Three Rivers, Michigan, triggering multiple warnings, including a tornado warning in Cass, St. Joseph, and Calhoun counties on Friday afternoon. Video footage captured by Lindsey Whitaker showed a funnel cloud with debris swirling around it in Three Rivers. The storm caused significant damage, including ripping off a portion of the Menards' store roof and impacting Three Rivers High School. The National Weather Service reported a radar-indicated tornado in the area, which was later upgraded to a visually observed tornado. Another radar-indicated tornado was reported on the ground in Union City shortly before 5 p.m.

Michael Maurer recounted sheltering in place with his son at the Armor Physical Therapy building in Three Rivers when the possible tornado hit. The situation is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
