Knowles-Rowland House: Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland's Impactful Housing Initiative in Houston

Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland are making a positive impact in their hometown of Houston by supporting the construction of the Knowles-Rowland House, a permanent supportive housing project set to open in early 2026. This $8.4 million initiative, spearheaded by the Destiny’s Child stars, aims to offer housing and essential services to individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. The project is a transformation of the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth, originally constructed in 1999 with funds from Destiny’s Child’s debut single. The facility, previously a community hub, faced damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and a subsequent fire in 2021, rendering it inactive for several years. The revamped complex will feature 31 units, with 16 specifically designed to accommodate residents with mobility or sensory impairments. Bread of Life, a Houston-based nonprofit associated with St. John’s Downtown Church, is overseeing the project, providing services such as case management, mental health support, substance abuse treatment, life skills training, and nutrition assistance through a partnership with Temenos Community Development Corporation. The Knowles-Rowland House will serve as a beacon of hope for individuals seeking stability and independence, offering a safe haven and resources to help them rebuild their lives.
