Menasha Man Sentenced to 7 Years for Setting Fire to Congressman's Office Over TikTok Ban

A young man from Menasha, Caiden Stachowicz, was sentenced to seven years in prison for setting fire to Congressman Glenn Grothman's office in Fond du Lac. The incident occurred after Stachowicz learned about a potential TikTok ban. Stachowicz appeared in court for a sentencing hearing and received a seven-year prison term along with seven years of extended supervision, which includes no contact with Rep. Grothman. The criminal complaint stated that Stachowicz set the fire because Grothman advocated for TikTok to be sold by its Chinese owner, ByteDance. Stachowicz clarified to the police that he did not intend to harm anyone and did not expect anyone to be inside the building during the incident.
