U.S. Special Forces Training in Mexico: Collaboration and Cooperation

Mexico has authorized 12 members of the U.S. Army's 7th Special Forces Group to conduct training for its military personnel. The U.S. Navy's SEAL Team 2 has also been granted permission to provide training in Mexico. These American special forces will be stationed in the country until July 15, stationed at military bases near Mexico City and Quintana Roo. This collaboration between the U.S. and Mexico is not uncommon, with previous instances of foreign military personnel coming to Mexico for training purposes during the current administration. Over the past decade, U.S. military forces have assisted in training Mexican service members on 1,677 occasions. The training will cover various scenarios, including weapons of mass destruction, jungle warfare, and covert special forces operations, as stated by Mexico's Secretary of Defense. Once the training is completed and the American forces depart, President Claudia Sheinbaum will present the results to Mexico's Senate.
