Man Sentenced to Prison for Forging Threats Against President Trump in Immigration Scheme

A man from Wisconsin has been sentenced to 16½ years in prison for forging threats against President Donald Trump in an attempt to have a robbery victim deported. The man, Demetric DeShawn Scott, was convicted of identity theft, witness intimidation, bail jumping, and reckless endangerment. The incident involved a Mexican immigrant, Ramon Morales Reyes, who was attacked by Scott while riding his bike in Milwaukee. Scott posed as Morales Reyes in letters threatening to kill Trump at a rally, leading to Morales Reyes being taken into custody by immigration authorities.

Scott was arrested after the attack on Morales Reyes and admitted to writing the threatening letters while in jail. Despite maintaining his innocence, he was sentenced to prison for his crimes. Morales Reyes, who has been living in the U.S. since the 1980s, was released on bond and is seeking a U-visa to remain in the country with his family. The case highlights the complexities of immigration and criminal justice issues in the U.S. and the lengths some individuals may go to in attempting to manipulate the system.
