BTS' GQ Magazine Feature Sparks Controversy Over Layout Choices

BTS' upcoming feature in GQ Magazine has sparked controversy due to the layout of the printed edition. GQ France shared a sneak peek of the March cover feature online, showcasing solo portraits of each BTS member with highlighted quotes from their interviews. However, Jimin's solo portrait did not have a corresponding quote next to it, leading to criticism of the magazine's editing choices.

After readers received copies of the magazine, it was revealed that Jimin's quote actually appeared earlier in the article, paired with an image featuring him and RM. Despite the inclusion of the interview content, the placement of Jimin's quote differed from the format used for the other members, causing debate online about the typography and sequencing of the feature.

Fans have expressed disappointment in the perceived lack of professionalism in the layout editing of the magazine spread, particularly in comparison to the other members' features. Despite the controversy, BTS has secured the March cover of GQ Magazine across 15 international editions, marking the first time a Korean act has appeared simultaneously on such a wide range of regional GQ covers.

The cover image features all seven members of BTS positioned in front of microphones, reflecting the setting of a global press briefing. In the accompanying interview, the members discussed their preparation for their upcoming album, ARIRANG, set to be released on March 20. The group expressed their commitment to each other and shared insights into the direction of the new album, with SUGA and RM offering comments on the project.

BTS' new album, ARIRANG, will be their first full-group album since Proof, released in June 2022. Following the album release, a global concert series is scheduled for April, marking the group's comeback after nearly four years without a full group record.
