Bill Clinton Deposition: House Oversight Committee Investigation into Jeffrey Epstein

Former President Bill Clinton is set to testify before the House Oversight Committee in a significant deposition related to the committee's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The closed-door meeting is scheduled to take place at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in Westchester County, N.Y., where the Clintons have resided since leaving the White House. Republicans have been eager to question Clinton about his connections to Epstein, and both Democrats and Republicans are expected to participate in the questioning.

The deposition of Bill Clinton follows a similar lengthy deposition by his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in the Epstein probe. House Oversight Chairman James Comer anticipates that Bill Clinton's deposition will be even longer than his wife's. The committee has emphasized that the Clintons are not currently accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein, and the purpose of the investigation is to gain a better understanding of various aspects of Epstein's activities.

Both Bill and Hillary Clinton's depositions will be released on video at a later time. Hillary Clinton stated in her opening remarks that she had no recollection of any contact with Epstein and criticized the probe for focusing on her as a distraction from President Trump's actions. Bill Clinton's relationship with Epstein is well-documented, with his name and photo appearing in federal documents related to Epstein. However, neither of the Clintons has been implicated in Epstein's crimes.

The House Oversight Committee has also interviewed former Trump administration officials, including ex-Attorney General Bill Barr and ex-Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, as part of the investigation. The committee had considered holding both Clintons in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas but dropped the effort after the Clintons agreed to comply. The deposition of Bill Clinton is a significant development in the ongoing probe into Epstein's activities.
