Anti-ICE Protesters Arrested at St. Paul Church: Legal Proceedings Unfold

Nine individuals were taken into custody during an anti-ICE demonstration at a St. Paul church, as reported by a civil rights attorney involved in the case. The protest occurred at Cities Church on Summit Avenue, where participants voiced their opposition to ICE and demanded justice for Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE officer. The church's acting field office director for ICE in Minnesota is said to be a pastor there.
Following the initial indictment of seven individuals in federal court, nine more were arrested on Friday morning and are set to appear in court later that day. The arrests were made under the 1994 Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, which prohibits interference with religious freedom at places of worship. The individuals have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Among those previously arrested were civil rights attorney Nekima Levy Armstrong, journalist Don Lemon, and St. Paul School Board Member Chauntyll Allen. Another independent journalist was among those taken into custody on Friday. The case continues to unfold as the legal proceedings progress.
