Diverse 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees: A Look at the Iconic Artists Up for Induction

The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced, featuring a diverse range of artists from various genres including rap, metal, R&B, hip-hop, Britpop, blues rock, and pop. The list includes iconic names such as Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, and Shakira, among others.

The list of 17 performer nominees also includes Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, Sade, and the Wu-Tang Clan. Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order return to the nominations after missing out on induction last year, while The Black Crowes and Oasis, two sets of musical brothers with public feuds and recent reunions, are also on the list.

Phil Collins, known for hits like “In the Air Tonight” and “One More Night,” has won eight Grammys, including album of the year in 1985 for “No Jacket Required.” Lauryn Hill's “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” made history as the first hip-hop album to win the Grammy for album of the year in 1999. Mariah Carey, with 19 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and Sade, known for soft rock hits like “Smooth Operator” and “The Sweetest Taboo,” are also among the nominees.

INXS, with chart-topping hits like “Need You Tonight” and “Devil Inside,” and artists like Melissa Etheridge, Iron Maiden, New Edition, Shakira, and Pink, who have all made significant contributions to the music industry, are part of the diverse group of nominees. Ten of the 17 nominees are on the ballot for the first time, including Jeff Buckley, Luther Vandross, and the Wu-Tang Clan.

The 2026 inductees will be announced in April, along with inductees entering the hall under special committee categories. Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they are eligible for induction. The nominees will be voted on by a panel of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame continues to celebrate the ever-evolving faces and sounds of rock and roll, recognizing the impact of these artists on youth culture. Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2026 inductees and the special committee category inductees, as the legacy of these influential musicians is honored.
