2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees: A Diverse Lineup of Iconic Artists Across Genres

The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced, featuring a diverse range of artists from various genres including rap, metal, R&B, hip-hop, Britpop, blues rock, and pop. The list includes iconic names like Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, and Shakira, among others. This year's nominees also include Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, The Black Crowes, and Oasis, who return to the nominations after missing out on induction last year.

Phil Collins, known for his solo hits like "In the Air Tonight" and "One More Night," has already been inducted into the Hall as a member of Genesis. Lauryn Hill made history with her album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," becoming the first hip-hop album to win the Grammy for album of the year. Mariah Carey, with 19 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and Sade, known for hits like "Smooth Operator" and "The Sweetest Taboo," are also among the nominees.

INXS, with chart-topping hits like "Need You Tonight" and "Devil Inside," and Iron Maiden, a powerhouse in British heavy metal, are part of the nominee list. New Edition, Shakira, and Pink, with their own string of hits and accomplishments, are also in the running for induction. The Wu-Tang Clan, hailed as rap innovators since their debut album "Enter the Wu-Tang," are also among the nominees.

Ten of the 17 nominees are first-time contenders, including Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Luther Vandross, and the Wu-Tang Clan. The inductees for 2026 will be announced in April, along with those entering under special committee categories. Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they are eligible for induction, and the final selection will be made by a panel of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame continues to celebrate the evolving faces and sounds of rock and its impact on youth culture. With a diverse and talented group of nominees, the 2026 induction promises to be a memorable event showcasing the rich history and influence of these iconic artists.
